About the Authors

Judie Steeves writes a weekly outdoors column called Trail Mix for the Kelowna Capital News. In 1998 she received the environment minister's award and placed first in the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspapers' Association annual awards for her outdoors writing.
She grew up roaming the hills of the Okanagan, fishing, hiking and camping, then embarked on a 30 year career in journalism.

Murphy Shewchuk is an award-winning author and photographer with 11 books to his credit. He has been a contributor and field editor for BC Outdoors magazine for over 30 years. His articles and photographs have appeared in a wide variety of publications including Canadian Geographic, Nature Canada and Beautiful British Columbia magazines. He has also been an outdoor columnist for the Kamloops Sentinel, Okanagan Sunday magazine and the Merritt Herald.
